The city of Inglewood has held three elections for mayor within the past year and after a backbreaking race between the incumbent, Mayor Danny Tabor and the challenger, James Butts, the city clerk has declared that Butts is the winner, and is now the Mayor-Elect of Inglewood. The City Clerk announced the former Chief of Police, Butts at 3,776 votes, oppose to the 3,000 of Inglewood’s Mayor Danny Tabor. Mayor Elect James Butts promised a new direction for the city and an overhaul of its finances since the city deficit is steadily climbing.
However, as of Sentinel’s press time, Mayor Tabor has not conceded.
Butts was the chief of police in Santa Monica, he also served in the Inglewood Police Department where he rose to become deputy police chief.
