Just Another Day In SouthLA
Between a combination of grants and city funding the Vision Theatre is being brought back to life. With nearly $10 million the Vision Theatre will be renovated and restored to the historic Leimert Theatre, now known as the Vision, in Leimert Park. The theatre was built in 1931 as a joint venture between Howard Hughes and Walter H. Leimert. Vision Theatre was orginal built to hold 1050 but downsized to hold 750 after completion. The theatre has a ground floor area of approximately 17,600 square feet, with a mezzanine of approximately 3,200 square feet. Looking at the “Envision The Vision” website its looking like they are either on the 3rd or 4th phase with project and looking to finish in February 2010.
