Just Another Day In SouthLA

Del Amo Face-Lift

Long over due, but Del Amo Fashion Center, once considered the largest mall in America is finally getting a face-lift, however owners/developers are being very quiet with future plans of the mall.  Anticipation escalated last month when the majority owner of Torrance’s Del Amo Fashion Center announced it would unveil details of the long-awaited mall redevelopment.

After all, Mayor Frank Scotto had announced in September 2010 the mall’s owners were prepared to spend $200 million to revamp the massive but outdated shopping center. In May 2011, he lavished praise on “unbelievable” plans he said would “transform” what was once the world’s largest mall.  Work was completely on the north end outdoor promenade a year or so ago, but since then nothing new has come to mall.

I think they should do something about the vacant building northeast of the Lifestyle Wing (on Fashion Way and Madrona Ave).
