HBCU of the Month: Albany State University

Albany State University, ASU, is located in Albany Georgia, is a four-year state university.  Founded by Joseph Winthrop Holley, born to former slaves of Winnsboro, South Carolina, originally established the  institution in 1903 as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute.  ASU’s mission is to graduate students who are outstanding contributors to society.  The university offers bachelor’s, master’s, and education specialist in more than 30 majors and excellent graduate degree programs including business, public administration, education, nursing and criminal justice.  ASU emphasizes the liberal arts as the foundation for all learning and it fosters global learning through a broad-based curriculum and expanding technology.  ASU provides a comprehensive educational experience with quality instruction at “personal level.”
