Last Saturday felt like the official start of summer with event throughout South LA commemerating a beautiful day. Before stopping by SGD’s Grand Opening, I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Leimert Park Village Book Fair and it was so wonderful to see such an amazing turn out. LPV Book Fair hosted a variety of vendors, from small artist to community tables. They also hosted a kids area that encouraged reading through puppet shows, songs, and other forms a child entertainment. My favorite part of the event was the panel discussion on African Americans getting involved in PLANNING SOUTH LOS ANGELES and Returning Black Dollar. Check out the slideshow, it was really a great feeling to see so many people out there shopping for books.
