Just Another Day In SouthLA

Charging Stations/Free Wifi May Be Coming To LA Bus Stops

bus stop

So per our new twitter friend @LAGreatStreets, I came across the above picture of a Los Angeles Bus stop charging/free wifi station.  One will now possibly be able to charge their phones as well as utilize free wifi as they wait for LA’s [needs much improvement (have had several bad experience with Metro which I have failed to hear a response back to btw)] Metro System.  There are 15 Great Streets that will be getting bus stops with smart benches and bus shelters that feature free WiFi, solar-powered USB phone chargers, and real-time bus arrival information over.  South LA streets include: ·

Crenshaw Boulevard between 78th Street and Florence Avenue (District 8)
· Central Avenue between MLK Boulevard and Vernon Avenue (District 9)
· Pico Boulevard between Hauser Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue (District 10)

In October of 2013 Mayor Eric Garcetti and the Great Streets program launched an initiative to transform LA streets and Bus Stops and the above picture is one of the first tangible bus stops, the bus stop pictured above is one on Central Ave.  Thank You Mayor Garcetti for your follow through.
