Rosa Park Station May Be Getting A New Look

Screen-Shot-2015-10-22-at-12.41.39-PMIts Board of Directors has unanimously approved a contract with RNL Interplan, Inc. to begin developing advanced conceptual engineering designs for the $66.7-million project, slated for completion in 2019.

The overall improvements include a platform extension, signal improvements; and a new pedestrian crossing for the Blue Line; and new elevators, escalators and stairs for the Green Line. There will also be better lighting and improved pedestrian access for all riders; a new Metro Customer Service Center; a new Sheriff’s substation and transit security facility; a bike hub; more parking; and new civic art to decorate the station.

The improvements to the station are all part of a grander vision to transform the community of Willowbrook. The station is a block away from the new $600-million Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Campus. Also in the works are a new library and senior housing, as well as upgrades to Magic Johnson Park.
