Just Another Day In SouthLA

Possible Compton Entertainment Complex Might Be In Talks

Compton Officials are looking to Partner With LA County and Dr. Dre in constructing an “entertainment complex” that would include a youth-focused performing arts center, a multiplex, and a multipurpose hall, plus a 500-car parking structure (thats where the partnership with LA County  comes in as a park-and-ride for the Blue Line).    The entertainment complex would raise on a 6.36-acre site which is now the parking lot of the Crystal Hotel, which sits directly next to the Compton Artesia Blue Line Station (and the 91 Freeway).  Word has it the owner of Crystal Hotel is slightly interested in selling and the city intends to snatch up Screen-shot-2016-02-10-at-12.00.15-PM.0the land and hire developers/contractors to construct a $35 million complex that would be anchored by 14-screen movie theater and a 50,000-square-foot, two-story multipurpose hall “to host the bingo, community events, and casino operations, and would also include 75,000 square foot  performing arts center that would have “a variety of utilization options for the community, including but not limited to a Performing Arts Stage, Dance Studio, Recording Studio, Youth Fitness and Homework Center,” all managed by Dr. Dre’s foundation.  Dre, who’s already committed all of his royalties from his last albumCompton for the development of the performing arts center.  Well good for you Compton, yall just betta do it!  However don’t get to excited, over here in in South LA, we still looking for the Vermont Entertainment Center, they ain’t even broke ground yet SMH.
