Metro Is Launching a Universal Pass Pilot Program in South LA This Summer
What if you could use the same transit pass to access a bike, scooter, car, train or bus?
L.A. Metro is rolling out a program that will allow users to do just that in South LA starting next summer. The pilot includes a “mobility wallet,” an integration with TAP (transit access pass) that enables riders to use the same card to access multiple mobility options in the area.
The pilot — the first to put a “universal basic mobility” (UBM) approach into practice in the city — is being rolled out with the help of the L.A. Department of Transportation (LA DOT), Uber Transit, TAP, BlueLA and Curb Mobility.
The pilot is one of the projects funded through a $7 million grant from the California Air Resources Board and will focus on an area roughly bounded by Crenshaw and Alameda and Florence and the 10 in South LA.
And just like that its no more, well the arena is still but the Staple Center will become the Crypto.com Arena on Christmas Day. Crypto.com just paid $700 Million to become the name of the home to the Lakers, Sparks, Kings, and what will be short lived, Clippers (who moving to the Intuit Dome 2024), which may be the richest naming rights deal in sports history.
Crypto.com apparently has been on a shopping spree across the global sports landscape over the past year. Crypto.com is a cryptocurrency platform and exchange headquartered in Singapore. Founded in 2016, The platform has inked high-visibility sponsorship deals with Formula One, the UFC, Italy’s Serie A, Paris St-Germain and the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, while also purchasing the Philadelphia 76ers‘ uniform sponsorship patch.
CIM Group is building two concrete frame office complexes. The two developments, located at 2922 and 3000 S. Crenshaw Boulevard, are rising on opposite corners of 30th Street.
The larger of the two projects, 2922 Crenshaw, consists of a three-story building that will feature approximately 87,000 square feet of office space and 1,750 square feet of ground-floor retail upon completion. Parking for 326 vehicles is to be located in an adjoining garage.
The project, which began construction earlier this year, is slated to open in 2022.
At the southeast corner of 30th and Crenshaw, CIM has quietly started work on a similar project on land owned by West Angeles Church of God in Christ, which will make up a three-story structure consisting of 55,000 square feet of office space on top of two level subterranean parking garage.

The project, located at the intersection of Anaheim Boulevard and Walnut Avenue, will consist of a five-story building featuring 88 one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings. Plans also call for 22,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, most of which would be occupied by a medical clinic. A three-story, 156-car garage is slated for the back of the property.
SVA Architects is designing the Anaheim and Walnut development, which is depicted in renderings as a contemporary low-rise apartment complex. Architectural plans show on-site amenities such as a rooftop deck, a central courtyard, and recreation rooms.
According to February 2021 application for tax-exempt bonds, the estimated budget for the project is $53 million. Proposed rents from range from $379 to $1,678 per month. Per a news release from general contractord R.D. Olson Construction, the apartments will be reserved for formerly homeless seniors and low-income famillies earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income level.
Inglewood Fails in attempts to create Monorail/People Mover
No Downtown Inglewood stop, doesn’t connect to Green Line, that’s now consider the C Line, What the H is going on in City hall. Inglewood announced back in 2018 that they were creating a Monorail-like system that would runs 1.6 miles, from Market Street/Florence station to Sofi Stadium with only one other stop which is in front of the Forum. It won’t even connect with the anticipated Clippers Intuit Dome, major fail Inglewood, major fail. First off, this should have been constructed as the Sofi Stadium was being built. Have you been to a Rams/Chargers game, are trying to travel thru Inglewood on a Game Night, yea don’t do that. Mayor Butts has secured $380 million for the project but is relying on the infrastructure bill to provide sufficient funding for that project that is exceeding $1 billion. But why no stop at Manchester and Market? Century and Prairie?
While construction was originally anticipated to occur over a 45-month period between 2022 and 2026, the revised project is expected to be built over a period of 46 months between January 2024 and November 2027.

Per the presentation, the new amenities are intended to improve water quality within the Ballona Creek Watershed and Santa Monica Bay, with the added benefit of bringing new green space to an area of South Los Angeles where parks are in short supply.
Construction could begin as early as Fall 2023 and be completed by 2025.
The total cost of the green infrastructure is estimated at $8.2 million, with funding through a Los Angeles County parcel tax.

My team and I continue working on ways to make our streets safer and more accessible for residents across Council District 8. Western Avenue is a key transportation corridor with high daily traffic volume and high public transportation ridership. It holds a variety of assets on or within ½ mile of it including six parks, 25 schools, 50 churches, and dozens of small businesses. We have the opportunity to transform Western Ave into a safe, accessible, and pedestrian-friendly street that allows thousands of residents to easily access school, church, work, and a wealth of community assets along the corridor.
LA’s Department of Transportation (LADOT) Vision Zero Team is proposing traffic safety improvements along a 4.5-mile stretch of Western Ave between MLK and Century Blvd. This project was initially slated to cover just Slauson to Century. However, we worked with LADOT to expand the project further north to include MLK and serve more stakeholders. Western Ave is a key transportation corridor for CD8 and the City with high daily traffic volume and high public transportation ridership. Over 15,325 bus rides are taken on Western Ave between MLK and Century Blvd every day.
Transportation equity is a matter of life and death. Western Ave is an example of systemic disinvestment that we live every day. The street began as one of LA’s thoroughfares and has become one of the most dangerous streets for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Western Ave is on the Vision Zero High-Injury Network (HIN). It has some of the highest concentrations of serious crashes with a high number of vehicle-related accidents and deaths. Between 2015 and 2019, 16 fatalities occurred on Western Ave between MLK and Century Blvd. Slauson / Western is one of the most dangerous intersections in the entire city, and the stretch south of Slauson saw 15 vehicle-related deaths, with the vast majority south of Florence.
This transportation project is the beginning of the continued revitalization of the corridor. By driving additional attention and resources to Western Ave, we can make it safer to live, work and play here. Of course, we can’t accomplish this without your help.
