Crenshaw Line Almost Complete!

LA Metro Crenshaw/LAX K Line | Westchester/Veterans Station Construction - YouTube

Metro’s Crenshaw/LAX Transit Line is 99% according to CEO Stephanie Wiggins. After a series of delays the line is moving closer to opening. The $2.1 billion project, is slated to start service in 2022 is finaly nearing completion. The 8.5 mile light rail line will connect LAX to……well eventually to Hollywood but for now I guess just to the Expo, but that’s still good. The Crenshaw Line won’t actually connect with LAX but Metro is currently building a $900 Million People Mover to connect the Light Rail to LAX directly. Emphasizing the significance of the Crenshaw/LAX Line, Wiggins insisted,

“This is our top priority. We are working tirelessly to get this project done. We are listening. We value yourpartnership throughout this process and going forward.  We really believe the Crenshaw/LAX, once opened, will be a jewel that everyone will be proud of – the community, businesses and residents alike.”

The route consist of eight stations, four at-grade and three underground. The Expo/Crenshaw, Martin Luther King Jr. and Leimert Park Stations are underground, there was at one time talk about building a entrance to the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall. The train starts at the Aviation station on the Green Line, now the “C Line” passes by LAX, into Westchester, Inglewood, Hyde Park, Crenshaw’s Park Mesa Community and ends at the Expo line.

On October 1, the Crenshaw/LAX Line initiated Photo Enforcement Program, which aims to reduce train and vehicle collisions and improve safety on the boulevard for motorists and pedestrians. Motorists who disobey traffic signals will be cited an average cost of $100 along with penalties and assessments. Cameras will be monitoring left-turn movements crossings on Crenshaw Blvd, so beware!

Turn the Fabulous Forum into the LA Sports Museum At The Fabulous Forum

Los Angeles Sports Museum @ The Fabulous Forum

Inside The Rich Musical History Of Los Angeles' Most 'Fabulous' Venue, The Forum

Imagine walking into 3 large replicas of the Lakers Championship, the King Championship trophies, the Dodger’s Championship Trophies all on the first floor, the second floor Kings Museum, the third floor Dodgers museum, forth floor Lakers and Clippers, fifth floor Chargers and Rams, LAFC and Galaxy on sixth floor and Sky Terrace/Event Space on top, that’s what I would do if I owned the Fabulous Forum.  I would knock out all the red walls, replace them with glass, keeping the white pillars intact. Place an event space/plaza with monitors in front for celebrations and a grass park around it as there is plenty of parking for Sofi.  Steve Ballmer purchased the Fabulous Forum for $400 Million, CASH, from previous owner Madison Square Garden in order to break ground on his new $1.8 Billion Arena. But now with a new state of the art stadium being built right next door, what’s the purpose of the Forum? The arena was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 24, 2014 so we don’t have to worry about it going anywhere but it now seems like surplus event space. What would you do with this space, keep it as it is or convert it?

Gentrification At Its Finest or Nice Addition To Hollywood Park Tomorrow

Gentrification continues in Inglewood with Intuit Dome, the latest addition to the Inglewood entertainment area. The new 18,000 seat, 44,000 square-foot arena had one hell of a groundbreaking ceremony September 17, which you can see in the attached video below (the first 17 minutes is just music with the dome in the background)  The $1.8 billion privately funded arena which is slated to have a halo video screen according to the Associated Press, wonder where they got that idea from, **cough Sofi cough**, excuse me, that COVID must of crept in here. The design has been revised several times with the fans comfort in mind according to Steve Ballmer, the current owner of the Clippers, in an interview with The Associated Press. In the same interview, Ballmer stated the arena will be the “Basketball mecca! Basketball palazzo!”.

Show actually doesn’t start until 18mins in FYI

Every detail — from the huge halo video screen that will hover over the court, to how the bathrooms will be designed to get fans back in their seats as quickly as possible — has a purpose. The halo will include 44,000 square feet of LED lighting, slightly more than one full acre and roughly six times the average size of other “big” screens in NBA buildings

Steve Ballmer- Associated Press

The Clippers currently share the Staple Center in the, now, lovely South Park district of Downtown Los Angeles along side the Lakers and the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. Its stated that Balmer has always had the idea of the Clippers having their own arena but formerly announced and unveiled plans in 2019. The stadium has an anticipated opening for the 2024 Season. I don’t think the city is officially tacking this on on the Hollywood Park Tomorrow Development, but unofficially, as of now, this is the latest edition to Inglewood’s newly formed entertainment area.

So what do you guys think are you excited for the new arena or is this furthering the Inglewood gentrification ticket, please comment below?

Long Beach Shiny New Downtown

Tallest Tower

LA’s downtown isn’t the only one undergoing a major transformation, LA’s little brother Long Beach is also in the mitts of a construction boom.  Downtown Long Beach has over 20 projects either already
under construction, or proposed for development.  A few of the developments that will drastically change the image of Downtown LB will be a $250 Entertainment Center adjacent to the Queen Mary
a 35 story Residential tower
(set to be the new tallest tower for LB), a flashy new Civic Center , and remodel of the Aquarium of the PacificCurbed LA compiled a list of developments
planned that has me pretty excited to see what DTLB will eventually grow into.

The area is set to serve low, very low and extremely low income families and unrestricted income households. The redeveloped Jordan Downs will include much needed neighborhood-serving retail, parks and a community center. The new vision promises to serve as a catalyst for the economic and social enhancement of the greater neighborhood of South Los Angeles. Comments can be submitted via email to sergio.rosas@hacla.org. Billionaire Elon Musk Building Tunnels Under The City

Tunnel

So apparently Billionaire Elon Musk has been boring under the City of Hawthorne in efforts to create this web of tunnels that would be attached to thousands of on/off stations the size of single parking spaces. The plans initially called for the the tunnels to transport cars but now has shift gears to transporting pedestrians and cyclist very close their destinations. Musk came up with the idea while stuck in traffic. The word on the street is that are already hundreds of abandon tunnels under LA, so creating a transport system to utilize these tunnels may not be so far-fetched. The Map of the completed project is pictured below,  I’m starting to wonder if Elon and Metro are in cohorts.  Metro proposed building an alternative to the 405 fwy through the Sepulveda Pass,  that looking more and more like Elon Musk Tunnel.   Musk is building a protype under Hawthorne, that h said eventually he wants to reach LAX.
