Among the awesome new look of BHCP, they are hosting a variety of events for the community ranging from FREE Zumba Classes, to FREE Concerts at Rave Movie Theater Plaza, to a fresh Farmers Market. Check out some of the upcoming planned events.
At the heart of the mall’s summer programing is the popular BHCP Live! concert series, hosted on the outdoor promenade between the Rave Cinemas and the mall. Poncho Sanchez will headline the final summer performance on August 15. For more than three decades, Sanchez has combined jazz, gritty soul music and infectious melodies and rhythms from a variety of Latin American and South American sources.
As always, the concert will be free of charge and open to the entire community. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. on the outdoor promenade.
With the success of the Zumba and Cardio Kick fitness classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-8pm, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza is adding a new yoga class to the mall’s exercise class offerings. Kali Alexander, owner of the “Lotus on the Nile” wellness center in Leimert Park, will lead a one hour yoga class that will help increase strength, stamina, flexibility and poise in a fun and energetic environment. Classes will be held on Saturdays, beginning August 18, at 10 a.m.
KIDS FILM SERIES
For those who want to beat the heat this summer, Rave Cinemas is hosting a free Kids Film Series for local families. Movies begin at 10a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays with the following films: Inkheart (August 13 and August 16) and Happy Feet (August 20 and August 23).
Baldwin Hills Crenshaw is also home to the Crenshaw Farmers’ Market, which offers a variety of farm fresh produce, delicious gourmet food, unique artisan goods, health and fitness instruction and more. The market is open in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot located at the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and Stocker Street every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine
